Now that my dreams of getting a Blackberry 8830 World Phone from Verizon Wireless are dashed, should I even consider getting an iPhone?
Here are some questions that I’m pondering:
- Should I switch to AT&T? I’ve been using Verizon Wireless for almost 10 years now.
- Should I pay $499 or $599 for an iPhone? I’m sure there will be discounts for signing a 2-year contract, though. Also, paying this high for a phone is nothing new, since I paid $500 cash for a Black RAZR, when they first came out a few years ago. FYI, I don’t have that Black RAZR anymore 😮 .
- Should I wait a few months after the iPhone is released so that they can fix all the initial bugs? I have no doubt that there will be complaints from the first version of the iPhone that is shipped out. Most of the bugs get knocked out on the 2nd release.
- Even though Apple claims 8 hour talk time, is the irremovable battery going to be an issue? My iPod has an irremovable battery and even though the battery life doesn’t last as long, I’ve had no issues with it.
- Will I get used to the iPhone “virtual keypad”? Since, I’ve only used the Treo 700w that has a thumb keypad, this is the only type of phone keypad I have experience with. I’m not sure if I can get used to iPhone’s keypad that has no tactile feel or responsiveness.
Decisions, decisions, decisions. Well, I’ll wait until June 29, when mass hysteria breaks out at the AT&T stores and then maybe I can get my hands on an actual, working iPhone and see if it worth it or not.

I got an iPhone and I’m regretting the decision – too many dropped calls and I have dead spots on my touch screen. I will need to exchange it for another iPhone.
I should have gotten a Blackberry Curve instead.

Yeah, I’ve heard many problems with the iPhone. I’m glad I didn’t get it.
